Hope this helps someone else - can't believe it's not explained better on Apple's support pages. You'll have to be sure that the previous default account is added to Max OS Contacts.app and can try dragging and dropping to iCloud, but mine was set to an Exchange account which is supposed to be synced with my Macbook, and those contacts aren't showing up new contacts added to iCloud do. It will just eliminate the problem, moving forward. This won't fix previously added contacts. Now, when you add a new contact, it will be added to your iCloud contacts by default, and so will sync properly.

Even if you view a particular contact card, it won't tell you the group it's in. Messenger for Mac and Windows includes notifications, chats synced across mobile and desktop, Dark Mode, GIFs and more. Even if you did notice the "Groups" button, nothing inside iOs Contacts.app tells you that there is a default account. If you're like me, you might not have realized that the iOs Contacts even distinguished between different groups. If you've got iCloud sharing set up & are confident that it's not a login/logout issue etc then it is probably that your phone / iPad is adding new contacts to an account that is not your iCloud account. A brief explanation, solution is below the separating line. Facebook didn’t say when this would start arriving in Messenger. This is not an iCloud syncing issue, it's an issue related to the default account used for Contacts on your phone / iPad.Īfter searching for a long time, I finally figured out the missing info - I wasn't able to find this anywhere else, so am posting here. A similar feature is already available on Instagram and WhatsApp. It’s going to start offering users more control over who can message them (the company didn’t offer much detail on how this will work), and it’s going to start blurring photos from people who message you without your approval so that you don’t have to open a potentially troubling image just to view a new message and know if you want to chat with someone. After you turn the feature on, you can choose how soon the app locks after you leave itįacebook also told The Verge about a few new privacy features arriving for Messenger in upcoming tests:.In Facebook Messenger, tap your profile icon in the top left corner.

So if someone is looking at your device and a new Facebook Messenger message comes through, they could read and respond to it. You can still reply to messages from notifications and answer calls while Messenger is locked. The new Facebook Messenger App Lock means you can hand off your iPhone or iPad to someone else with less concern about others looking through your messages. With privacy and security being core principles for Apple, being able to lock its Messages app should be on the list of features in the works however, it wasn’t announced with iOS 14. This marks another useful addition to Facebook Messenger that has recently arrived ahead of Apple itself offering the same in its own apps (last week, iOS screen sharing debuted in Messenger video calls).

The new App Lock feature in Facebook Messenger lets you lock the app and your all your chats behind Face ID/Touch ID on iOS devices (via the Verge) with the functionality coming to Android in “the next few months.” Facebook Messenger has been updated today with a handy new privacy feature that allows iPhone and iPad users to lock the app with Face ID and Touch ID.
